If I’m not at Milagro Winery, I’m probably at Green Gables. Have photographed countless weddings here and it’s always a good time and smooth day! In this Wedding Venue Review I will be talking about The Venue’s Character, The Reception Space, and some overall thoughts about this historic site!
Green Gables has ENDLESS CHARM. If you love vintage vibes this is the venue for you! The bridal suite has so much charm and vintage touches. The bride get’s dressed inside a historic school house. The venue features, “30 ft. cathedral ceilings, full length mirrors, eclectic blend of furnishings, and floor-to-ceiling windows that offer natural lighting perfect for photos.”-Green Gables Website
The most popular Ceremony Space is this rustic arch, perfect for a large floral piece. Now you also have the option to get married under the twinkle lights! When you walk down the aisle, white roses and plush greenery are the backdrop which is a photographers dream! So many times the backdrop for when the bride comes down the aisle is less than ideal.
After the ceremony, you and your sweetheart make your way through a tunnel of foliage and lights and go into the bridal parlor where you can spend some time alone or with your family and bridal party.
During bride and groom portraits, there are a handful of spots for photos. This isn’t the kind of venue where you need to leave the area to go take photos. Everything you need is right on the property! I always love to check in with my couples to make sure I find out what there favorite spots are so we can get the exact photos they want! But I also love to find new nooks and crannies so give them some unique photos as well. The outside of the property is just as charming as the inside. It truly is magical and so so unique.
The patio outside the groom’s speakeasy is a great spot for mingling and cocktails after the ceremony. The venue offers a ton of options for how you want to handle the drinks and good times, “You have the freedom to craft the perfect bar menu. This historic bar out of the Governor’s mansion offers the option of a full bar. Select beer, wine & spirits of your choice.”-Green Gables Website
What I love most about this venue is that they ALWAYS have the reception space setup early. This means I can take my time to photograph all the little details in a variety of ways. So many times I am rushing to photograph the reception space as guests are walking to their seats. I never run into that issue at Green Gables and it is amazing!
“Choose from various candelabras, tall rustic candle holders, lily bowls, cylinder vases, shepherds hooks, glass votive holders, table number stands, artisan-inspired ivory candle cages, or provide your own.” You can also “Choose from 38 perfect color cloth napkin choices to complement your design theme and table-scape. Other color fabric upgrades available to rent à la carte.”-Green Gables Website
Overall, this venue is awesome! Always an easy breezy wedding day. The staff is super helpful and nice and a pleasure to work with. But most of all I love that my couples love the venue. I personally love the vintage aesthetic and historical aspect of the school house. I also love that each couple can create whatever vibe they want with the venue. You can jump on the vintage vibe, or go more classy, or turn the space into a modern garden vibe, the options are endless! Check out their insta here!
