Sacred Mountain Wedding│Karina + Jack

I’m not sure where to start with Jack and Karina and their super special Sacred Mountain wedding. The pair and I met back in 2019 at a coffee shop in north park, where we ended up talking for 2 hours straight! Later that year, in October, we shot their engagement photos in mount Laguna. Little did I know, I would become pregnant that same month! Before I found out I was expecting, we all went out to dinner together to chat about their upcoming wedding that I would also be capturing. When I finally did find out that we had a new baby coming soon, as exciting as it was, it also meant I wouldn’t be able to photograph their May 2020 wedding. When I told them the news, they were both so excited for my family and me, but it was sort of bittersweet. They were bummed that I wouldn’t be able to be at their wedding and so was I!

But…. and if you go back and look at their original wedding date you might be able to guess… yep, that’s right, covid. Karina and Jack’s wedding ended up being postponed another year, which meant that I was able to photograph their wedding after all! They couldn’t wait a full year, though, so November 2020 became the new date. The 3 of us met up at the courthouse, and I was so honored to be their only witness to their nuptials.

For their “big” wedding, the couple scaled back their guest list from 100+ to 40. Only their closest family and friends attended. It truly was the most perfect day, even with the hiccup of a flash flood and rainstorm pushing the wedding ceremony back an hour. So many things contributed to this day being so special. The homegrown lavender their florist brought just for Karina, the hand-painted invitations by a friend, Karina’s mother who MADE HER DRESS. Jack’s grandma lint rolling his pants before photos, Karina coming in to help jack with his hair, family photos full of fun and laughs, Karina’s dad snapping photos with his point and shoot all day. Their friend had an old-fashioned witness scroll custom-made so that all the guests (including me) could sign as witnesses to their union. Each guest had a custom name card with photos of themselves with the couple.

I could go on and on about all the little details that made this day truly special and one I will never ever forget. I’m so sad it’s all over, but I know I’ve gained more than wonderful lifelong clients. I’ve gained lifelong friends. I am so lucky to have photographed so much of the beginning of their marriage journey.
