This gorgeous Lake Cuyamaca engagement session took place out in the grasslands by the lake during golden hour, and the setting couldn’t have been more romantic. If you’ve never been, Lake Cuyamaca is tucked a little ways away into the mountains of San Diego County. It has wide open grasslands, serene lake views, and the kind of quiet nature setting that’s hard to come by closer to the city. It’s a beautiful spot for engagement photos, especially if you’re looking for somewhere that feels particularly peaceful and natural.
The location itself is also incredibly versatile—you can get everything from rolling golden hills to lakeside shores in one short walk. And because it’s a little more tucked away, it gives couples space to slow down, be themselves, and settle into the moment together without feeling like there are crowds of people nearby.
The light that evening was warm and soft, and the couple’s outfit choices worked perfectly with the landscape. The couple wore a white flowy dress and a green button down linen shirt that caught the breeze with every step. The colors complemented the tones of the grass and trees, and the movement in the fabric added something extra special to the photos.
If you’re planning an engagement session and want somewhere that feels a little more private and connected to nature, Lake Cuyamaca is definitely worth the short drive out of the city. It has just the right mix of open space, texture, and light to create some really timeless, relaxed photos, especially at golden hour.
